We are all praying for your speedy recovery Richie. You have provided a great soundtrack to our lives and challenged drummers everywhere.

Richie Hayward is one of my favorite drummers. His feel is so natural, his groove incredibly deep and infectious! The Dixie Dregs toured with Little Feat in '80 and it was like getting an education every night in terms of hearing and experiencing all the truly important ingredients that go into making music sound and feel so good!!! Richie, YOU are an inspiration to so many musicians who search their entire careers for that THING, that thing which is so illusive and hard to attain, which turns notes and rests into art. You are in my thoughts. Rod into art.

I run 'The Sweet' website - good luck mate. www.thesweet.com

I am glad you set this up so that I can help Richie. I got to meet him a couple of years ago at a show and he was so nice to me. He helped me get my album cover signed by the whole band. Please pass on my wish for the best through this tough situation.

Richie Hayward has been one of the most influencial drummers in my life. I have a deep respect for his musicality, feel and attitude. I have had the very good fortune to meet him on a number of occasions, he was always VERY gracious. I was a former salesman and artist relations mgr. at Simmons Electronics in Westlake Village, CA. We had a mutual friend Ed Tuduri at Rimshot and I've been to countless Feat shows, alway's amazed at his playing. I was extremely upset upon hearing the news of his illness. I am praying for you everyday my friend, I am sending my blessings to you in hopes of a full and complete recovery, and trust that god will make it so. Richie was telling me about his wedding last year when I saw the Feat in Rochester, NY in October, 08. I am so glad he has her in his life, and with everyone pulling for him and for her he's going to be fine. I wish I could give more, and will do so when I can. I'll be thinking of you. I'll leave you with a prayer that helped me through some very difficult times: Eternal God, whose mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustable, look kindly upon us, increase your mercy in us, that in difficult times we might not despair, nor become despondent but with GREAT confidence submit ourselves to your holy will which IS, Love and Mercy itself.. Peace be with you...see you soon, GET WELL!!!! Love; Michael Paradis

I wanted to relate a quick story about Ritchie. In 1992, I was on a flight from Chicago to LA, en-route to Hawaii to meet my family for a vaction. I saw a guy wearing a "Thoroughbred Percussion" T-shirt with long hair and a bandanna so it got my attention. After 2 hours of flying, the long haired guy got up to take a leak, and I instantly recognized him as Ritchie Hayward from Little Feat. At the time I was in college and playing in a band that covered the Dixie/Tripe Face medley, and was flipping out at the thought of meeting him. After I got off the plane, I sprinted through the airport and caught up to him just as he was getting onto an escalator to go and claim his cymbal bag for a show Feat was doing in LA the next day. He even asked if i was staying over and would like to go to the show! He could not have been nicer as we walked together to baggage claim and I told him as a fellow drummer how much I admired his playing and how grateful I was for Little Feat as a band. I was with my younger brother at the time and he snapped a picture of the Ritchie and I arm in arm and me holding his cymbal bag. While on vacation, my brother dropped his camera in the water and the picture was ruined. I still have that memory and am grateful for how kind Ritchie was and for his time taken for a fan. A truly classy guy and a gentleman! Please pass on well wishes for Ritchie and his recovery, and I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Doug Reichard douglas.reichard@gmail.com

My thoughts and prayers are with Richie and his family. I have had many, many great evenings watching Little Feat over the years.

My college band was as close to a Little Feat cover band as you can come. I think we must have done 19 songs from their catalog over the 3 years we were together. We even got the opportunity to open for them in Lawrence, Kansas..Needless to say, that was a real honor for us. After moving to California and getting a job at the Record Plant, I heard that Richie and friends were going to be the session players on a date at the studio and weasled my way in as an assistant engineer. Finally got to see these wonderful musicians at work. All of the great music and musicians that Through Little Feat I learned about Bonnie Raitt, Cooder, Tower of Power and so much music that brought much joy to my life. So as they say...Feats don't fail me now. Get well Richie and thanks for the years of wonderful sounds.
